Lasst uns doch mal was erleben und dorthin fahren:
Union Square Grand Prix

17/18 April 2010

This is going to be BIG & Spectacular.................Dont miss out

Over the weekend of the 17 / 18 April an RC race meeting will be held in the foyer of the new prestigious Union Square shopping complex in Aberdeen Scotland, the classes raced will be 1:10 touring cars and 1:12, as well as the opportunity to race at a unique venue this event offers a massive PR opportunity for the BRCA to promote our sport to the general public.

A great deal of planning has gone in to this meeting already, you can imagine the amount of H & S paperwork we have had to work through to get this far, but now that hurdle is over with and we can get on with the race. We aim to maximise the potential for both drivers and the sport in general, one of the main key ingredients in this project is the Union Square centre, they are the driving force behind this, it was them that approached us and enquired about holding this race and its this commercial organisation that are adding their considerable marketing weight to the project. We will handle the RC media with regards race reports etc and the centre will deal with TV and local media, we are also planning to cover the meeting live on this web site.

So apart from the racing what can you expect, well the centre are really pushing the boat out for us, there will be a F1 style champagne winners rostrum, race commentary for what we expect to be a massive viewing public, F1 pit babes, large screen TV’s around the centre showing the racing, and a lot of in your face marketing as you would expect from a large commercial retail concern. There are a lot of other exciting things in the pipeline but we do not what to announce anything until these have been confirmed.

As well as the racing a small simple track layout close to the main track is planned to allow the public to have a go and we have already secured a signifcant number of new RTR cars for this purpose and a team of people to run this part of the show.

So on to the racing, the touring cars and the 1:12 cars will run to 10.5 pro stock specification. Format will be practice on Saturday morning before moving on to qualifying in the afternoon, more qualifying rounds on Sunday morning with three leg finals in the afternoon. Final details on the exact format, rules and classes will be announced shortly. Secure pitting is provided with tables and mains power. The centre offers a full range of restaurants and a hotel; we are currently working with the centre to secure concessions with the restaurants, hotel consessions have been agreed for drivers and mechanics travelling to the race.

The Union Square complex is next to the railway station and we are also arranging a shuttle bus to collect drivers from Aberdeen airport for those drivers from further afield.

If you want to see what the centre looks like take the 3D tour on the link below. The area we are using is in the main entry hall which can clearly be seen below where the camera is situated on the 3D tour

Due to the high profile nature of this meeting we are hoping to attract the very best drivers and possibly some top drivers from out side of the UK, we are restricting the event to 90 drivers 60 touring car drivers and 30 for the 1:12 section, if you are interested in racing at the this exciting meeting please indicate your interest via Email to the address below, due to the public nature of the venue and the fact the this race is as much about PR as it is racing we are only aiming to select drivers of a good standard, please provide your name, your location and some information regarding race results, we will acknowledge your e-mail then get back to you once we have ideas of the numbers, e-mail address is below.

Your e-mail of intent needs to be recived by Febuary 20th, we will then notifiy you if you have an entry and request your entry cheque to be forwarded to us by 1st March.

The entry fee is £16.00 and as previously stated we are working with the centre to secure concessions for drivers from the food and drink outlets.

Finally, we are working with many of the manufactures and distributors in the RC industry to get them on board, until their comittment is finalised we cant give details, but as soon as these details are confirmed they will be announced. We already have secured backing from companies outside the RC industry to support this event, details to be anounced soon.

More information wil be posted at regular intervals here on the BRCA-TC web site, we will confirm the sponsors, race format and deals for drivers in the next week or so.

If you are a commercial business and want to be a part of this exciting high profile race and we have not contacted you, please contact us using the e-mail address below.
